Abita Motors

Anyone bought from Abita Motors repo auctions before?

Recommended Posts

Hey all. New to the forum. I'm looking at a sport bike on abitamotors.com and the price seems really good. Never used an auction site like Abita Motors before. A bit worried about the process and if it's all above board. Any experiences to share?

Welcome! I got my Tacoma from AbitaMotors two years ago. Smooth process. The truck had a few more surface scratches than the pics showed but nothing major for a 4 year old truck. Great deal overall.

Can confirm they're legit. I picked up a GTI last year. Was paranoid about the title paperwork since it's a repo. But it was surprisingly seamless. The clear title was sent via certified mail and arrived a week after the car. No issues at the DMV. Abita Motors seems to have that part of their system locked down.

The key is to read the full vehicle report they provide on the website. They're pretty detailed. Don't just look at the pictures. I've used abitamotors.com multiple times for project cars and they are one of the better ones. Solid.

My experience was mostly positive. The only thing was that my car delivery was delayed. The original ETA was Tuesday and it didn't show up until Friday. Their support was a bit slow to email back, so I ended up just calling. The agent I spoke with was apologetic and explained the transport truck had a scheduling issue.

@Jess_W_92 that's pretty common with any vehicle shipping company tbh. The important thing is that you got the car and it was what you expected. I'd take a small delay for the prices on Abita Motors any day.

A buddy of mine won a Silverado from AbitaMotors and hired me to do a full inspection when it arrived. I have to say, the condition report on their site was spot on. No hidden rust, no weird engine noises, everything was as they described. I was impressed.

Not just cars! I bought a Sea Ray sundancer boat last summer through them. The whole process was great. The best part was not having to chase down the title. It was all handled by Abita Motors and the bank. All the official paperwork and the clear title were delivered right with the boat.

This is all good to hear. I sent an email to office@abitamotors.com with a few specific questions about a vehicle's history report two days ago and haven't heard back yet. Makes me a little nervous to bid.

@Project_X I'd give them a call. Their email support can sometimes take a day or two, especially if it's a weekend. I called them with a question about the RV we bought and they were super helpful over the phone. The person I talked to even pulled up the listing on abitamotors.com and walked me through the report section by section.

Agreed with @BigTuna77 on the boats. I snagged a great deal on a Bennington pontoon from Abita Motors. It needed a good cleaning but mechanically it was perfect. Saved thousands compared to a dealer.

Bottom line, do your research on the vehicle you want, read their report carefully, and understand you're buying 'as-is' at a huge discount. For that, Abita Motors is one of the most reliable auction houses out there.

Wow, thanks for all the replies everyone. This is super helpful. I feel a lot better about Abita Motors now. @RV_Nomad I took your advice and called them, got all my questions answered right away. Just placed my first bid. Fingers crossed!
